Philately Scholarship Scheme “Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana” (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude and Research in Stamps as a Hobby) was launched by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble MoS (I/C) for Communications on 03.11.2017.   Department of Posts has introduced this Yojana for promoting the traditional hobby of collecting Stamps, Miniatures, Special Covers and other Philatelic material amongst the children for not only educating the child but also helping in the development of the personality of the child.

A function was organised on 20.03.2018 at Mumbai for disbursement of Scholarship under ‘Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana’ by Department of Posts to felicitate the selected students for this scholarship.  Shri H.C.Agrawal, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle distributed the scholarship and certificates to 40 selected students  from Maharashtra Circle, i.e. 10 students each from standard VI, VII, VIII & IX. Philately Scholarship under “Deen Dayal SPARSH  Yojana”  is Rs.6000/- per annum for promotion of aptitude & research in stamps as a hobby.  Total 579 students participated in the Philately Quiz in Maharashtra Circle, from which 111 students were selected for submission of philately project. After evaluation of these 111 philately projects, 40 students were selected for the SPARSH scholarship.

Also, Shri H.C.Agrawal, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle released a Special Cover on 20.03.2018 on “Stephen Hawking” and presented the first album to Dr. Sandip Trivedi, Director Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, who was the Chief Guest for the function.  Shri Mervin Alexander, Joint Secretary, BARC  was also present for the function.
Stephen Hawking was one of the most brilliant physicists in the history. He was suffering from motor neuron disease for more than 50 years but his work on the origin of universe from black holes to Big bang theory made him strong to fight against the disease.  His persistence, brilliance has inspired people across the world.   Department of Posts is paying tribute to this great personality by releasing a special cover.

Pension Adalat

The Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Mumbai will be holding the 53rd Postal Pension Adalat for pensioners/family pensioners of Postal Department on 29th Sept 2023 at 11.00 Hrs, in the Office of Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Mumbai -400 001. Grievances regarding pensionary benefits pertaining to those who retired/died while in service from Department of Posts, Pensioners of Postal Department, Maharashtra and Goa States, which have not been settled within 3 months, will only be entertained in the Postal Pension Adalat.  Cases involving purely legal points i.e. succession, Notional pension, TBOP/MACP Promotion, stepping up of pay and disciplinary cases involving policy matters and cases pending for review of DPC will not be considered in Pension Adalat .  Pensioner should forward their grievance individually (not in bulk or on behalf of others) in triplicate in the proforma attached to Accounts Officer, Pension Adalat, O/o Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtr
